After 45 years, our advocates have seen thousands of families put in the hard work it takes to change their lives and live free from abuse. What makes us unique in our advocacy and support services is that we know that a criminal justice response alone will not solve the problem of abuse. It takes more than simply leaving a relationship to heal from abuse.

When an adult begins to take an honest look at their own lives, they can begin to identify areas that may be keeping them vulnerable to abuse, like their own substance abuse, childhood trauma, or codependency. By addressing these areas, they can then move forward toward lives free from all forms of abuse. It isn’t easy, but it is worth it!

Say No More to Abuse

It takes hard work to say NO MORE to abuse. Families work with advocates to take a look at the areas in their life they have the power to change and begin to take steps toward freedom from abuse. Adults complete an anonymous survey upon exit to provide feedback. From October 1 through December 31, 2024:

  • 100% reported they have an increased feeling of well-being.
  • 100% reported they know how to plan for their continued safety.
  • 100% reported they felt confident they would be free from abuse even after leaving Stepping Stones.
