Hope for Today

From Al-Anon Family Group

May Special price: $14.50

Hope for Today is a small, daily meditation book created by the Al-Anon Family Groups which is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope to solve their common problems. Al-Anons believe that alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid in recovery.

As an example of changed attitudes, part of the May 21 meditation narrative shares: In the past I used to mind my children’s business. I usually offered advice whether or not it was wanted. Now I hold my comments about the situations, problems, and conflicts my children share with me. I don’t accomplish this changed behavior perfectly all the time. Often my first reaction is to tell them how I would handle the problem. However, my Higher Power has shown me that this behavior only alienates them. However, when one of them speaks of a decision affecting me personally in a negative way, I speak up and set my boundaries.

In the back of this little book is a topical index that can be extremely helpful in sourcing aids to recovery. Topics such as balance, caretaking, expectations, and grief are just a few that are listed.

Hope for Today is a great way to start your day! Pick up a copy during this special sale.
