After years of serving distinctive custom coffee, great customer service, and interactive barista classes, Step One Coffee House has become a successful social enterprise supporting Stepping Stones Agencies services to our community.
In order for the social enterprise to continue to flourish, the cafe now needs independent management, all while Stepping Stones continues to focus on providing the best 24/7/365 safety and support for local families.
Beginning November 1, we are turning over operations to be independently managed. Step One Coffee House will close and a new business will open as Carlitos Cafe! Current coffee house manager and long time restaurateur, Ana Pettingill, will be the new owner and operator of the cafe. Carlitos Cafe will continue to provide monetary support for Stepping Stones’ advocacy services.
As the new owner of Carlitos Cafe, Ana will continue to provide a diverse custom menu and great customer service – two of Ana’s passions. “I love to cook and create food people enjoy eating. Carlitos is a dream that I am excited is becoming a reality.”
Carlitos Cafe will operate 7 am – 3 pm Monday – Saturday and will still be located at 6719 E. 2nd Street, Suite C in Prescott Valley. There will be no changes to the hours at this time, and the cafe will continue to feature coffee, breakfast, and lunch items with new items coming soon.

Ana, my husband and I cannot wait to experience the new Cafe. Stepping Stones and the Coffee House have been a special place for us over the years. We treasure the time that we share with our grandchildren shopping in the stepping stones and having treats at the coffee house. What about our gift cards? Will they still be valid?
Hi Chris – Great question! Stepping Stones/Step One Coffee House gift cards can still be redeemed at Carlitos Cafe until December 30, 2019. After that date, gift cards will no longer be accepted at Carlitos Cafe, but they can still be used at Stepping Stones Thrift Stores. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

I love Stepping Stones Cafe and am sure I will enjoy its new incarnation. Looking forward to trying it. One special request –PLEASE keep the same ice tea. It is the best anywhere!
