ASU Devils Spark Change volunteering

Arizona State University’s Devils Spark Change group volunteered at Stepping Stones in January and March 2018.

SERVICE is at the core of what Stepping Stones does in our community. From our advocates to our volunteers, service runs through everything we do! Check out these three ways we serve:

Advocacy and support:

In 2017, our advocates provided over 7,000 hours of face-to-face advocacy services to local families affected by domestic violence or other forms of victimization. That averages out to over 19 hours per day of crisis counseling, educational support groups, criminal justice advocacy, and safety planning every day of the year! As families put in the hard work to make changes in their lives, our advocates are there to support them through each step.

Volunteers:

We have many awesome volunteers who serve the community with us! Many give their time in our thrift stores, from assisting with sorting and restocking items to helping customers find those special treasures. Others choose to volunteer in our advocacy program. After completing training and shadowing advocates, volunteers assist with answering helpline calls, supporting families, and helping lead educational support groups. These awesome volunteers provide advocates with the extra hands they need to help families move away from abuse and into healthy, positive futures. Community education:

We believe that our community is the best at helping connect those who need advocacy to our services. There are many who may come through the doors of your office, clinic, church, civic group, or book club who are suffering from past or current violence. What can you do to help them? We are here to provide resources to community businesses and groups who would like to learn more about our services and keep resources on hand to help anyone who needs our services. If you are interested in having our team present to your group, please call Alexis or Cori at 928.772.4184.
