After experiencing abuse, families often find strength and support in through a supportive community. One thing we know at Stepping Stones is that supportive fellowship can help families rebuild their lives and find healing.

Community support can show up in a variety of ways like connecting with local resources. Whether it is through mental health services, 12-step recovery, or other support groups, these resources can offer therapeutic and emotional support.

Another opportunity for support is educational groups. At Stepping Stones, educational support groups are offered regularly on topics including the dynamics of domestic violence, childhood trauma, family dynamics, boundaries, codependency, and more. These groups let adults learn and grow in a safe environment. Peer support during these groups also provides opportunities for shared experiences, new insight, and a sense of belonging.

Finally, abuse can be isolating and building new friendships can be an important step in healing. These new relationships can be built through a variety of activities including attending church, joining a gym, or participating in school or volunteer activities. By building these new relationships, families can create a network of caring individuals who contribute to their ongoing healing process.

At Stepping Stones, we believe that community support is an important step in empowering families to overcome the challenges of domestic violence. If you or someone you know needs support because of abuse, please call our advocates at 928-445-4673.
