Betty DellaCorte, long time advocate and supporter of Stepping Stones, passed away September 11, 2025 in Prescott Valley. Betty opened Faith House in Glendale in the 1970’s, the first shelter for abused women and children. Her work to support women experiencing violence and abuse allowed women a space to live in safety and find healing from abuse. Her legacy of service continues through Stepping Stones Agencies, which initially launched as a branch of Faith House to support women and children in Yavapai County.

She also served families through the 12-step recovery community as they worked toward living free from addiction. Betty’s service to families and support of Stepping Stones will be an important part of our organization’s memory.

Below is a snippet of her obituary provided by family:
Elizabeth Teresa “Betty” DellaCorte departed her loving family at 92 years of age, on September 11, 2025, in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
Betty was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 10, 1933, to Joseph DellaCorte and Louisa Gargiulo. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her sister, Florence Wunsch, and her son Joel Anthony Amore.
Betty lived a full, active, and purposeful life.  She excelled in her career as an Interior Designer for over 25 years, however, the most significant of her many accomplishments was as the founder of the first shelter for abused women and children in the United States, Faith House.  Her home in Glendale, Arizona saw multitudes of women and their children, victims of domestic violence come through the doors in desperation.  There they found grace, strength and resources to break the cycle of abuse.  Betty was so proud of the amazing individuals that are working to ensure these much-needed services continue and her legacy of services continues today, through Stepping Stones Agencies in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Today there are untold numbers of women and children whose lives have been dramatically impacted by her pioneering vision and tenacious spirit.
