Meet our Advocates is a special series to introduce you to the awesome women and men who support local families experiencing domestic violence and other forms of abuse in our 24/7/365 advocacy services.
Meet Cori – she’s been an advocate at Stepping Stones for 16 years (but really if you know her, she’s a “lifer”). Cori loves being an advocate because she is constantly blown away by how hard men and women work when they are ready to change their lives. That inspiration and admiration extends to her fellow advocates because they’ve “been there, done that” and truly walk the walk each day in their own growth and recovery.
Cori is grateful to be a part of a team that understands the complex issues around family violence and recovery. And, she’s grateful that her own family did the hard work of dealing with abuse and addiction, and broke the cycle of abuse for her and her brother. It’s that lesson of true empowerment – understanding what we have control over and what we don’t – that helps adults and children find freedom from abuse.
