I would like to attend al anon meetings in Prescott valley. I just lost my partner who was an alcoholic
Ic and so was my father.
Hi Judith – Thanks for reaching out. Here is a list of the meetings that are in the Prescott/Prescott Valley area. There is an Al-Anon meeting that is at our Step One Community Center locations and is included on this list: http://al-anon-az.org/district-2b-meeting-schedule/
My adult alcoholic son has liver disease from intermittent drinking, lives in Phoenix,
I am caring for elder parent, difficult to be with my son even if he allowed me to…..an would like info on how to cut through the possible timely process for supporting son in going into treatment when/if he is willing. I feel his time is running out. He has suicidal ideology when drinking normally. He is on medications for mental health as well,
His basic insurance i believe covers Terro’s. His dad would pay for treatment elsewhere. Son very proud, driven, stubborn likely wont accept. Son says well im dying so…. and i cant see my kids so… tries to stay sober makes it a day, week or month or in the past, years. Fuzzy brain…doesnt wanna lose job so says cant do treatment, even tho job wont do much to help anyone if he is dead. he does AA meetings when not drinking. is still in process of diff dr and tho they are different ones who say if you drink you will die, he isnt pro-active in getting information. i tell him his tools worked in the past, needs new tools, how to infuse any hope when he feels hopeless.
Hi Joan – Thanks for reaching out. We would recommend al-anon.org as a place to find support for you and your son’s father. Even during COVID, there are many meetings online and some smaller groups that may be meeting in person (you’ll have to check in your local community). It may also be helpful for you to reach out to AA meetings to see if they have tools or recommendations in the times when your son isn’t working a program. While we don’t have any specific recovery programs, if you are in Yavapai County, you can call our 24/7 helpline and speak with our advocates for additional resource recommendations.
