The Big Switch

Two Local Businesses Trading Spaces

Home is where the heart – and art – is! Two of the Quad-Cities’ favorite businesses are switching buildings in Prescott Valley.

Stepping Stones Thrift Store and Armadilla Wax Works will be trading spaces in a huge win for both organizations. Aramadilla Wax Works will be relocating into Stepping Stones’ “Red Barn” thrift store located on Highway 69 in Prescott Valley, while Stepping Stones Thrift Stores in Prescott Valley will be consolidating locations into Armadilla’s large building on Industrial Way where they have been operating for over 20 years.

Trading spaces provides both businesses with the right space to meet their needs and the needs of their customers.

For Armadilla Wax Works, the Red Barn building provides just the right space for their retail candle and mercantile store and candle making.  Serving the quad city area since 1984, this is the original – one and only – biggest and best candle store in Arizona, founded originally in old town Tempe in 1971. “Candle light doesn’t just happen, it’s made to happen.” The mercantile store will feature original candle designs and artisan quality craftsmanship with every candle they make, every day. Candles put the “special” in special events for weddings and holidays, from celebration to ceremony.

At Stepping Stones, thrift shoppers are able to find the best treasures from books to furniture, but it is so much more than just a store. Proceeds from the thrift stores directly support Stepping Stones’ 24/7/365 Helpline, advocacy services, and safe shelter for local families finding freedom from all forms of abuse. The opportunity to consolidate into one location offers more treasures in one large space, as well as provide additional support for the 24/7 advocacy services.

Stepping Stones CEO Robin Burke said, “The opportunity to have both our Prescott Valley thrift stores in one location allows us to provide even more resources for families in our advocacy programs and give customers a better shopping experience.”

When you think about a win-win, this is it. Two local companies, with heart and art, exchanging locations to better serve their business, customers, and the community.

The big switch is anticipated to be completed by mid-August with a short closure for both businesses during the transition. For more details about important dates, visit www.SteppingStonesAZ.org/thebigswitch.
