SSA 35 Anniversary LogoJanuary 2015 – Stepping Stones is celebrating its 35th Anniversary! In 1980, Stepping Stones opened its doors to this community – the first shelter for women and children in a rural community in the entire country! During the last 35 years, our shelter has stayed open 24/7/365 and our advocates have taken more than 125,000 crisis calls. Stepping Stones has welcomed over 5,750 women and children into our emergency safe shelter. None of this would be possible without all of the individuals, businesses, faith-based groups, and civic organizations in West Yavapai County that have generously given their time, talent and money to make sure Stepping Stones is able to serve women and children for years to come – no matter how big our communities grow. We look forward to celebrating this anniversary and many more with all of you.

December 5, 2014Stepping Stones made a commercial! Thanks to funds donated specifically for advertising, Stepping Stones, with the help of Cable One, was able put together this advertisement. The ad showcases the different social enterprises under Stepping Stones Agencies’ umbrella, all of which have enabled us to keep our emergency shelter and advocacy services available to women & children our West Yavapai County communities 24/7/365 since 1980. Creating this was a fun, new experience, and we hope that it helps introduce even more people to Stepping Stones’ mission! Thanks to all who helped with its creation – we couldn’t have done it without you!

You can look at the ad on YouTube via the link below, but, for at least the next couple of months, it will also be airing on select Cable One networks.

Quad Cities Business News - Best Second Hand Store 2014

November 23, 2014 – What an honor! Stepping Stones Thrift Stores (all three of them) were selected by the readers of Quad Cities Business News as the Best Second Hand Store(s) of 2014. This award really means a lot to our team and reaffirms the work everyone puts into making the stores clean, friendly, and inviting. And while all of our associates are AMAZING, it’s not just the people who work at our stores who make Stepping Stones what it is – another reason we’re able to do what we do is because of this amazing community. From donors to shoppers, it’s everyone’s dedication to Stepping Stones’ mission that makes our stores what they are.

If you haven’t been by any of our three stores recently, stop in and check out everything that’s going on. You’ll find the best deals in town, and more importantly, the best people in town!

November 14, 2014 – Stepping Stones was lucky enough to attend the first ever Gratitude Gala put on by In Recovery Magazine. Kim Welsh, who’s the CEO and Publisher of the magazine, got it started just a few years ago and already the magazine is taking off. She knows she couldn’t have done it alone, however, and threw this fabulous party to thank everyone who’s helped get her to where she is today. Aside from the substance of the event – which featured a performance from the Deva Healing Center Acro Yoga team, dinner catered by Prescott Resort, and stand-up comedy performed by Mark Lundholm, who himself tackles his personal issues of abuse – Stepping Stones was honored to receive a $1,000 donation. Kim is not shy about the help the advocates at our shelter provided her years ago, and now that she’s in a position where she can give back, she wants to help ensure that our emergency shelter and advocacy services remain available 24/7/365 to all of the women and children in our community. This donation will go a long way towards ensuring that happens. We’re grateful for the donation and proud of what Kim has done with the magazine in such a short amount of time.
